Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church follows the path of Jesus and believes in being the hands and feet of God.  The following is a list of regularly scheduled community outreach events:

January

  • We provide the evening meal for the Bangor Homeless Shelter the second Sunday of the month.
  • We continue to give away socks, hats, and mittens to the needy in Bangor in conjunction with the UM Bangor Area cluster.

February

  • We provide the noontime meal for the Salvation Army the third Wednesday of the month.
  • We hit the street in Bangor again this month and give away socks, hats and mittens in conjunction with the UM Bangor Area cluster.

March

  • We provide the evening meal for the Bangor Homeless Shelter the second Sunday of the month.
  • We host the annual Art, Music, and Meal fundraiser for the Hampden Neighborhood Food cupboard.

April

  • We provide the noontime meal again for the Salvation Army the third Wednesday of the month.
  • HHUMC organizes a team to participate in the annual Hike for the Homeless fundraiser event.

May

  • We provide the evening meal for the Bangor Homeless Shelter the second Sunday of the month.

June

  • We provide the noontime meal again for the Salvation Army the third Wednesday of the month.

July

  • We provide the evening meal for the Bangor Homeless Shelter the second Sunday of the month.
  • HHUMC has their annual Walk/Run for Imagine No Malaria fund raiser.

August

  • We provide the noontime meal again for the Salvation Army the third Wednesday of the month.
  • Participants form teams and participate in the annual Champion the Cure walk/race event.
  • Back-to-School supply collections for Hampden Neighborhood Food Cupboard.

September

  • We provide the evening meal for the Bangor Homeless Shelter the second Sunday of the month.
  • HHUMC is the primary donor for the Hampden Neighborhood Food Cupboard this month.

October

  • We provide the noontime meal again for the Salvation Army the third Wednesday of the month.

November

  • We provide the evening meal for the Bangor Homeless Shelter the second Sunday of the month.

December

  • Christmas collections for local families in need.
  • Christmas collections for Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center.
  • Christmas collections for Spruce Run.
  • We hit the street in Bangor and give away socks, hats, and mittens in conjunction with the UM Bangor Area cluster.

We have a drop-off bin in our Fellowship Hall throughout the year as we continually collect and deliver donations for the Hampden Neighborhood Food Cupboard.
